Live Performance Portraits
Towards the end of last year I found myself with a little time to look over the images from the many gigs and festivals I had covered in the last few years. I noticed a certain style to a lot of the images which I seemed to go back to and edit. Maybe its a throwback to my studio portrait days with this style of live music photography.
I do, even at gigs, tend to look for the best light I can given the environment i'm in which is usually a press pit or even right in front of the stage with the punters if the venue has no press pit.
The style of image I kept going back to and editing from the last few years tended to be spot lit and have almost a studio type quality to them with regards the lighting and I felt they all looked better in Black and White. So using Silver Efex Pro2 I came up with a number of images that I like to call "Live Performance Portraits"
All the below images where taken over the last few years, some as recent as Jan 2018 and all taken on Fujifilm X series cameras and mostly the brilliant Fujifilm Fujinon XF 50-140/2.8 R LM OIS WR.
I hope you like these images and I will be looking for the light during the year ahead in the pit or at the front of the stage to get more "Live Performance Portraits"
